Only 1,000 copies of the 2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown are planned for North America, split between 500 in Destroyer Gray and 500 in Pitch Black. Along with that glossy paint, buyers will find retro black and red stripes and accents that mirror those of the 1971 Challenger Shakedown concept that debuted at the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas.

This black and red pattern is also carried over to the interior, with red stitching on the console, steering wheel, dashboard and black Alcantara seats. Oh, and did we mention the badge? A “Shakedown” badge on the dash nicely complements the red “392” fender legends.

Shakedown builds on the Challenger R/T Scat Pack’s Plus, Technology, Navigation, Carbon/Suede and Dynamics Package feature list, and includes a shaker hood scoop. But other than that, yeah, it’s just a limited edition appearance package.

Not quite your jam? Don’t worry, Dodge has five more special-edition muscle cars slated for rollout by September 21, with the next on August 31. A seventh model, the very last of its kind, will be unveiled at the SEMA show in early November to top it all off.

And if you still can’t get your hands on one of thoseEven the base 2023 model year Challengers and Chargers will get a special “Last Call” plaque under the hood, which is the end of nameplates and all. Dodge also brought its popular and classic shades B5 Blue, Plum Crazy purple and Sublime green back to order books this year, as well as the modern Destroyer Gray that half of Shakedowns will wear.
