The flatbread pizzas can be found at 20 Toronto-area test restaurants and come in three flavors: plain cheese, pepperoni, and chicken parmesan; the chicken and parmesan pizza is an immediate red flag for purists, but never mind.

Donut lovers furiously responded that pizza was on the menu, but chocolate éclairs and some classic donuts were gone for good.

The basic theme of the complaint seems to be that Tims was doing one thing very well – donuts and coffee – and they have now dropped that.

There was a lot of dudgeon from those wanting to see the java fixed before the pizza was added.

And bring back those classic donuts!

Twitter erupted in insults at the pizza news:

“How these a**holes don’t have room to bring back the crunch of the nuts?” asked an indignant customer.

Finally, “Remember when Tim Hortons announced their ‘Back to Basics’ plan focused on coffee, donuts and breakfasts? Only two years ago? And now they’re trying the pizza? I can’t wait to have sushi next year.

Comments on Reddit were also pointed:

“You know what would be great? If their coffee didn’t taste like shit and they didn’t go even further from a store to buy donuts and coffee.

One asked, “Is there a lack of pizza options in Toronto?” It just seems hopeless.

This consumer makes a good point: “Seriously. Why not make a new type of pastry or something like that? Try being more like a bakery instead of a 7-11, for Pete’s sake.

We apologize, but this video failed to load.

Many who wrote on Reddit longed fondly for a throwback to the days when Tims was respected for his delicious, fresh donuts and decent coffee.

“Raw. Maybe learn the basics of coffee and baked goods before the pizza disrespect starts,” wrote one Reddit user.

“Tim Hortons has lost its mind,” summed up another.

However, not all comments were negative.

A Tims fan out west tweetedWhy @TimHortons WHY??? Toronto doesn’t love you like Edmonton loves you. When do we get the pizza???
